The plant owned by Bloco Gráfico in Maia, will integrate a new Logistics Centre adapted to the strategic demands of the business. The unit will be formed by 12.700m² of shipping manufacturing, two office buildings, totaling 4.400m² and three robotic warehouses with heights between 22m to 28m and areas of 1.400m², 1.650m² and 2.800m². It is located in a 45.000m² site, which was globally landscape enhanced. There will be a storey with about 4.100m² in the expansion area, serving the logistics handling. Taking into account the limited time available and the need to maximize free space at the ground floor, the design solution was a post-tensioned slab with around 20m+21m+17m spans. The slab is 15cm thick supported by 55cm height beams spaced out by 2m. For the roof, we have designed 60m span steel girders, supported by reinforced concrete columns. Above the loading platforms located on the north facade, there is an 15m length cantilever eyeshade for the protection of logistical operations. This structure consists of a metal grid coated on both sides by a flat steel sheet, supported by two alignments of tension bars, which transfer loads to the facade columns. This solution has the added value of aesthetics, having a total thickness of 20cm. On the two new robotic storehouses the floors will be made of concrete reinforced with metal fibers. We have designed anchored retaining walls to support earth in areas where little space was available and gabion meshes, where the slope has a sufficient extent. The anchored retaining walls have a maximum height of 7m and a maximum length of 200m. Due to great heights of robotic storehouses, aspiration fire detection systems will be used. The fire fighting mains is composed of strategically placed fire hydrants and an automatic extinguishing system by sprinklers. The design of the pluvial water drainage system was affected by the large area to drain on the roof and by the will to not having pipes within the logistical and industrial area. We have chosen "Pluvia" system, aiming the number and diameter reduction of installation pipes.
